Board of Management

The Board of Management of Coastwide Child and Family Services are a team of dedicated and passionate professionals who each bring to their voluntary roles a unique and dynamic perspective.

Julia Teale, Chair

Julia is a marketing and communications specialist with over 25 years of experience in not-for-profit organisations, Government agencies and private business.

Julia has extensive knowledge of child care services, worked as Media Manager for Family Day Care Australia for four years and continues to be passionate about quality and excellence in the sector.

Julia has two school-aged daughters, both of whom excelled in Family Day Care.

Geoff Brazel, Vice Chair

As a solicitor at Brazel Moore Lawyers, Geoff has extensive experience in all areas of general practice.  With a career which began as a Legal Clerk in the Office of the Clerk of the Peace, Geoff was admitted as a solicitor in 1979.  He moved to the Central Coast to set-up as a partner in practice in 1981.

Geoff is passionate about governance and excellence in service delivery.

Geoff has three adult children.

Kerry Harper, Treasurer

Kerry is a qualified Chartered Accountant with experience working with various accountancy firms, including the ‘Big 4’.

Following a strategic career move to work in the not-for-profit sector, Kerry worked for an established not-for-profit youth organisation before recently setting up her own accounting practice.

Kerry has one daughter.

Lisa Philipsen – Secretary

Lisa is a customer service and market research specialist with many years of retail and hospitality experience. Her current role is Project Support Officer, which she combines with her out-of-hours role as Marriage Celebrant.

Lisa passion for volunteering is fired by a commitment to harness the power of people, to inspire the best outcomes for the business.

Both of Lisa’s school-aged children attended family day care, sharing many fond memories and developing a lifelong love of learning.

Leonie Thomas

Leonie is an Early Childhood Teacher with many years of teaching experience both locally and internationally. Her diverse teaching career has included public schools in London, community based not-for-profit services and inclusion support programs in Sydney.

Leonie is a strong advocate for inclusion support and innovative early childhood programming.

Coastwide Child and Family Services Leadership and Administration Team

CEO, Kellie and Administration Team, Sarah, Robyn and Maxine provide invaluable strategic and organisational leadership and administrative support for all services offered by Coastwide Child and Family Services.

As a proven Early Childhood Educator and Leader, Kellie with many years of experience in management and Kellie has always demonstrated a passion for delivering the highest quality community based child and family support services.

Leading a motivated team by example, as Nominated Supervisor of Coastwide Family Day Care, Kellie’s commitment to early childhood education and care is demonstrated by her hands on determination to ensure the highest quality implementation of the National Quality Framework within Coastwide Family Day Care.

Kellie’s commitment to delivering positive learning outcomes continues in her leadership of the Supported Playgroups, MyTime and PlayConnect programs, where she strives to ensure our programs deliver services which focus on the individuality and diversity of children and families.

With a proven background in marketing and administration in the not-for-profit sector, Sarah, our Business Development Manager, has a long-term commitment to increasing community engagement and access to quality child and family support services. This commitment is demonstrated by Sarah’s strengths based approach to service delivery and program development.

With a diverse administration background as a successful small business owner, as Admin Assistant Robyn’s can do attitude and commitment to excellence in customer service are both valuable assets.

Maxine’s commercial background compliments our organisation and as Accounts Admin Assistant as she takes care of our invoicing, payroll and accounts. Maxine enjoys being part of such a caring and creative team.

Coastwide Family Day Care Coordination Team

Our Family Day Care Coordination Team includes Senior Coordinator, Vicki, Admin Team; Jeni, Mel, and Rachael and Coordinators; Sharon, Lisa, Mandy, Karen and Wendy.

Senior Coordinator, Vicki has worked in the early childhood education and care sector for over three decades, both in Family Day Care and Long Day Care. She has a wealth of experience and retains her passion for quality outcomes for young children, which she shares with our team of Family Day Care Educators.

Jeni, Admin Assistant, is our Child Care Benefit and Child Care Rebate expert and is longest serving member of the Family Day Care Admin Team. She has a strong background in administration and specialised support work and holds an Associate Degree in Social Science. Jeni is an advocate for flexible working conditions and now works remotely since her family’s relocation to Queensland in 2013.

Mel, our Placement Officer brings a real understanding of Family Day Care, with many years as a Family Day Care Educator and as a parent who used Family Day Care, she now has an office based role. Mel strives to find the right placement for each and every child, working closely with families and educators to find to perfect match.

Admin Assistant, Rachael, is our newest recruit. As Family Day Care parent, Rachael understands the importance of quality relationships and customer service. With strong administration strengths developed in local government and the not-for-profit sector, Rachael is a resourceful, dedicated and flexible team member.

With her own experience as a Family Day Care Educator and as the longest serving Family Day Care Coordinator, Sharon is also our new Educator Trainer. Her passion for lifelong learning is also demonstrated by her role as accredited Triple P Practitioner within the Supported Playgroups Team.

As Family Day Care Coordinator and Educational Leader, Lisa shares her passion for individuality and diversity in her support and implementation of the Early Years Learning Framework. With over twenty years of experience, Lisa works with individual Educators to highlight their strengths and develop their programming to ensure the best outcomes for children.

After a successful career as part of the Supported Playgroups Team, Mandy joined the Family Day Care Coordination Team first as Playsession Coordinator and then as a full time Coordinator. Mandy demonstrates her commitment to group learning environments facilitating group time at playsession with joy and enthusiasm.

Karen, an early childhood educator with almost twenty five years of experience, love her role as mentor and guide. She is passionate about working in partnership with Educators and is proudest when Educators demonstrate a strongly defined emphasis on social responsibility and a keen respect for the environment in their educational programming and service set-up.

Wendy joins the Coordination Team following the dynamic growth of Coastwide Family Day Care. She has over twenty five years of experience in the early childhood education and care sector, including Preschool and Vacation Care, but her passion is most definitely with Family Day Care. Her goal as Coordinator is to support Educators to be the best they can be.

Supported Playgroups, MyTime and PlayConnect Team

Our Supported Playgroups, MyTime and PlayConnect Team includes Amanda, Katrina, Jade, Tiffany and Jenny. As early childhood professionals with several years of experience, each brings a unique perspective to their role in the Supported Playgroups, MyTime and PlayConnect Team.

Amanda’s priority as Senior Supported Playgroup Facilitator, is to make sure each and every playgroup provides a welcoming, friendly and relaxed environment for families. Having a strong commitment to providing positive and high quality early childhood experiences, Amanda acknowledges a successful playgroup is one where everyone is involved.

Katrina is a dedicated Supported Playgroup Facilitator with many years of experience in early childhood education and care. Katrina shares her passion for lifelong learning and capacity building with Supported Playgroup families. She also shares her love of baking with her grateful colleagues.

As a Supported Playgroup Facilitator, Jade has made a commitment to making sure each playgroup provides fun and interesting play opportunities, supporting families and children to thrive at playgroup.  Together with Amanda, Katrina and Jenny, Jade acknowledges that Supported Playgroup is a place where families feel part of a community.

Tiffany is an intrinsic part of our MyTime team and she brings a fresh perspective to everything she does. With previous experience as a Family Day Care Educator, Tiffany loves to embrace new ideas and she enjoys facilitating activities which cater to the individual needs of children and their families.

Jenny, our most recent recruit, works across three early childhood programs, Supported Playgroups, MyTime and PlayConnect. As MyTime and PlayConnect Facilitator her goal is to facilitate groups where families build genuine friendships and support networks. She is enjoying supporting some amazingly resilient families and working with a great team.
