Board of Management

The Board of Management of Coastwide Child and Family Services are a team of dedicated and passionate professionals who each bring to their voluntary roles a unique and dynamic perspective.

Julia Teale, Chair

Julia is a marketing and communications specialist with over 25 years of experience in not-for-profit organisations, Government agencies and private business.

Julia has extensive knowledge of child care services, worked as Media Manager for Family Day Care Australia for four years and continues to be passionate about quality and excellence in the sector.

Julia has two school-aged daughters, both of whom excelled in Family Day Care.

Geoff Brazel, Vice Chair

As a solicitor at Brazel Moore Lawyers, Geoff has extensive experience in all areas of general practice.  With a career which began as a Legal Clerk in the Office of the Clerk of the Peace, Geoff was admitted as a solicitor in 1979.  He moved to the Central Coast to set-up as a partner in practice in 1981.

Geoff is passionate about governance and excellence in service delivery.

Geoff has three adult children.

Kerry Harper, Treasurer

Kerry is a qualified Chartered Accountant with experience working with various accountancy firms, including the ‘Big 4’.

Following a strategic career move to work in the not-for-profit sector, Kerry worked for an established not-for-profit youth organisation before recently setting up her own accounting practice.

Kerry has one daughter.

Lisa Philipsen – Secretary

Lisa is a customer service and market research specialist with many years of retail and hospitality experience. Her current role is Project Support Officer, which she combines with her out-of-hours role as Marriage Celebrant.

Lisa passion for volunteering is fired by a commitment to harness the power of people, to inspire the best outcomes for the business.

Both of Lisa’s school-aged children attended family day care, sharing many fond memories and developing a lifelong love of learning.

Leonie Thomas

Leonie is an Early Childhood Teacher with many years of teaching experience both locally and internationally. Her diverse teaching career has included public schools in London, community based not-for-profit services and inclusion support programs in Sydney.

Leonie is a strong advocate for inclusion support and innovative early childhood programming.

Our Coastwide Child and Family Services Leadership and Admin Team

As a proven Early Childhood Educator and Leader, CEO, Kellie demonstrates a passion for delivering the highest quality community based child and family support services. Leading a motivated team by example, as Nominated Supervisor of Coastwide Family Day Care, Kellie’s commitment to early childhood education and care is demonstrated by her hands on determination to ensure the highest quality implementation of the National Quality Framework within Coastwide Family Day Care.

Kellie’s commitment to delivering positive learning outcomes continues in her leadership of the Supported Playgroups, MyTime and PlayConnect programs, where she strives to ensure our programs deliver services which focus on the individuality and diversity of children and families.

With a proven background in marketing and administration in the not-for-profit sector, Sarah, our Development Manager and 2IC, has a long-term commitment to increasing community engagement and access to quality child and family support services. This commitment is demonstrated by Sarah’s strengths based approach to service delivery and program development.

The dedicated Admin Team; Jeni, Maxine, Mel, Rachael, Rachell and Robyn equip our organisation to deliver the highest possible customer service, whilst meeting urgent timeframes, unique and diverse family needs and regulatory requirements.

Jeni is our longest serving Admin Team member and respected CCMS expert. Jeni’s attention to detail and research skills are invaluable as is her enthusiasm for supporting her colleagues. Jeni is an advocate for flexible working conditions and continues to achieve whilst working remotely following her family’s relocation to Queensland in 2013.

As a qualified bookkeeper with many years of experience, Maxine brings this experience and a commercial perspective to her Accounts role, taking care of our invoicing, payroll and accounts. She appreciates the respectful and nurturing working environment she enjoys and acknowledges the strong work ethic all her colleagues share.

Mel’s strengths are capitalised as our Family Day Care Placement Officer. Her thorough understanding of what families are looking for is a result from her many years as both a Family Day Care parent and a Family Day Care Educator. Mel strives to find the right placement for each and every child, working closely with families and Educators to find to perfect match.

Rachael joined our team recently and, as parent who used Family Day Care for her children, Rachael also understands the importance of quality relationships and the value of outstanding customer service. With strong administration strengths developed in local government and the not-for-profit sector and Rachael is a resourceful, dedicated and flexible team member.

Newest recruit, Rachell, joins our team as Receptionist, offering a professional and friendly first contact to callers, both in person and over the phone. With a background in small business and education, Rachell demonstrates efficient multi-tasking with ease.

With a diverse administration background as a successful small business owner, Robyn’s can do attitude and commitment to excellence in customer service are both valuable assets. She enjoys working in an environment which values individuality and diversity.

Our Child and Family Services Support Team

Our Child and Family Services Support Team is led by Senior Family Day Care Coordinator, Vicki and Senior Playgroup Facilitator, Amanda. With a wealth of experience in the early childhood education and care sector, Vicki and Amanda share a passion for quality outcomes for young children and their families. This passion is demonstrated by their strong commitment to the diverse and invaluable support services and programs offered by Coastwide Child and Family Services.

Together, they head a team of highly skilled and diverse early childhood professionals; Aimee, Lisa, Jade, Jenny, Karen, Katrina, Mandy, Sharon, Tiffany and Wendy.

Aimee is our newest team member and she brings a contemporary perspective having recently completed her Bachelor Degree in Early Childhood. Aimee has a passion for working with our team of educators to strengthen their programming and practice through professional development.

As Educational Leader, Lisa shares her passion for individuality and diversity in her support and implementation of the Early Years Learning Framework. With over twenty years of experience, Lisa works with individual Educators to highlight their strengths and develop their programming to ensure the best outcomes for children.

As an invaluable team member, Jade has made a commitment to making sure each children has access to engaging and interesting play opportunities in all our programs. Her commitment extends to PlayConnect where she facilitates a weekly session for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder like characteristics.

With extensive experience in early childhood education and care, Jenny enjoys working with our team of resourceful and compassionate early childhood professionals. She acknowledges and shares the team’s commitment to positive early childhood outcomes and in particular enjoys supporting some amazingly resilient families within the MyTime program.

Karen, an early childhood educator with almost twenty five years of experience, loves her role as mentor and guide. She is passionate about working in partnership with Educators and is proudest when Educators demonstrate a strongly defined emphasis on social responsibility and a keen respect for the environment in their educational programming and service set-up.

With a passionate for lifelong learning and capacity building, Katrina is a dedicated and well respected team member. With many years of experience in early childhood education and care, Katrina shares her love of baking with her grateful colleagues.

With diverse experience in early childhood education and care and support services, Mandy demonstrates her commitment to group learning environments facilitating group time at playsession with joy and enthusiasm. Her engaging communication style makes her playsessions a favourite with Educators and children of all ages.

Drawing on her own experience as a Family Day Care Educator, Sharon is our new Educator Trainer and, at each training session, she acknowledge the amazing strengths each new Educator offers children and their families. Her passion for lifelong learning is also demonstrated by her role as accredited Triple P Practitioner within the Supported Playgroups Team.

Tiffany is an intrinsic part of our child and family service support team and she brings a fresh perspective to everything she does. With previous experience as a Family Day Care Educator, Tiffany loves to embrace new ideas and she enjoys facilitating activities which cater to the individual needs of children and their families.

Wendy joins the team following the dynamic growth of Coastwide Family Day Care in the New England region. Wendy’s passion for Family Day Care is informed by over twenty five years of experience in the early childhood education and care sector. Her goal as Coordinator is to support Educators to be the best they can be.
