What is Family Day Care?

Gosford and Peninsula Family Day Care is a licenced early education and care service provided in a home-based environment for children aged 0 to 13 years. 

Family Day Care currently represents 12% of the Early Childhood education and care sector in Australia, with over 14,500 Educators caring for nearly 100,000 children. Family Day Care Educators are selected, supervised and registered with a Coordination Unit or scheme.

Coastwide Child and Family Services is the Coordination Unit for Gosford and Peninsula Family Day Care.

All Early Childhood services in New South Wales are regulated by the NSW Government Department of Family and Community Services. Family Day Care Educators are obliged to obtain a Working with Children Check, hold a minimum of Certificate III level education and care qualification and hold a Child Protection certificate. Educators must also have current First Aid and CPR certificates and have completed Emergency Asthma and Anaphylaxis Management training.

Coastwide Child and Family Services receives funding from the Federal Department of Education, Employment & Workplace Relations as a contribution towards operational costs, and in addition parents and Educators pay a levy to the scheme to access mentoring support, supervision and specialist referral services.

Educators are registered and resourced by our Gosford and Peninsula Family Day Care Coordination Team. The team comprises of trained and experienced Early Childhood professionals. Educators receive ongoing training and support including regular visits from our Coordinators. Gosford and Peninsula Family Day Care ensure a very high standard of service which is guided by the National Quality Framework and Early Years Learning Framework.

Gosford and Peninsula Family Day Care offers a safe, secure home based education and care service, providing play based experiences for children structured around daily real-life situations. Offering nurturing and learning activities which reflect diversity and individuality, Family Day Care provides a unique, consistent and familiar childcare service where siblings can be cared for together in a family group setting.
